Tints, Tones & Highlights Part II of IV: Blue

June 21, 2012

As a calming and soothing color, blue is the color of inspiration, sincerity and spirituality. This universal color is considered beneficial to the mind and body and often used to symbolize piety and sincerity. A natural color seen every day in the sky and oceans, its meaning and symbolism is carried throughout nature in a variety of blue floral. Like the color, blue flowers send a message of calming beauty, tranquility and peace. From celebrating a newborn to a fabulous wedding reception, blue-hued flowers can add a level of sophistication and elegance to any occasion. A monochromatic centerpiece of blue tones can convey the tranquility of a pristine ocean and may set just the right mood to your event.

The design shows a great way to combine three different floral selections in a monochromatic centerpiece. From the lacey blue hydrangea to the lush delphinium and the prickly blue thistle, these fresh blue-tinged flowers will leave a lasting impression. While some flower experts say hydrangea represents vanity others claim it expresses thankfulness. Whichever meaning it conveys, we can all agree that this cloudy shaped flower creates a calming and refreshing feel. As a symbol of nobility and independence, Blue thistle will leave a lasting impression on your guests. With a distinctive spiny snowflake shaped bloom, the blue thistle flower can add variety and texture to your centerpiece. The Delphinium flower completes this monochromatic centerpiece. This long stem flower ranges from light to dark blue and accentuates any table centerpiece, floral arrangement and wedding bouquet. Used by Native Americans and European settlers to make blue dye, the lush dolphin-shaped flower symbolizes an open heart and the essence and feeling of heavenly qualities.

Whether you are planning your special day or a large corporate event, blue can be incorporated in many different design elements. Blue lighting can be very mystical and elegant addition. Whether it’s a blue spotlight shining down or a vibrant blue light accenting the ballroom, blue lighting can be a beautiful display that sets the tone of your event.

Here are a few ideas different ideas in which you can include this soothing and calming color into a perfect monochromatic event.

A sky blue ribbon and bow on the chairs will set the tones alongside Sky blue napkins and Blue Roses, Hydrangea, and Orchids.

A royal blue velvet cake can be a new twist on a traditional red velvet cake and can go along with a monochromatic themed wedding.

Whether is a Cayman Blue Bengaline or a Light Blue Fortuny, blue linen will sure add style, sophistication and elegance.
